My oldest son, Levi, is now in the 6th grade. At a recent school meeting, I heard several of the other 6th grade moms share about the independence they are seeing in their kids, finding their new norm as co-teachers and letting their kids spread their wings a bit more.

  1. Debrief: assignments, projects, and assessments. Go beyond the grade and dig for comprehension. 

  2. What do you have going on today? Teach time management, prioritizing tasks, and goal setting.

  3. Schoolwork isn’t a checklist, but an adventure: Join your child’s adventure
