I can’t believe I’m saying this, but summer is officially over.

  • August 1st hit me hard… balancing work and motherhood was exceptionally difficult this summer.

I have either heard or read of quite a bit of mothers experiencing a lot of guilt this summer.

  • Not sure if it’s because I’m more aware

    • Just like when you start talking about a certain car… then you see it everywhere.

Things like:

  • “I’m so sad summer is almost over!”

  • “I feel guilty because we didn’t do as much reading or math we needed to”

  • “Anxious… sad… not ready to make lunches again!”

Josh’s reminder: “Nobody is putting this pressure on you but yourself.”

3 Strategies to set yourself (and your kids) up for success:

  1. Anticipate

    1. What do you need to feel confident for the school year?

    2. What do you need to feel comfortable?

  2. Prepare

    1. What do you need to feel confident for the school year?

      1. Weekly lunch menu?

      2. Create yourself a schedule that allows you to be more present when your kids are home?

      3. Have your kids wake up by themselves?

      4. Assign certain duties to your kids?

      5. Need extra help?

    2. What do you need to feel comfortable?

      1. Dislike not being able to get in touch with your kid if you need to get a message to them? But also super hesitant to get them a device?!

      2. Do they walk/ride bikes home?

  3. Execute

      5. Recruit your spouse, hire a house cleaner, virtual assistant, etc!

    2. What do you need to feel comfortable?

      1. Designate “safe” parents

      2. Teach them what is “safe”
