ABOUT guest speakers
Allison Barton:
I am a child of the one true King! Not only did Jesus save me, but He has allowed me to experience His peace and presence in the most miraculous of ways. I am also a very grateful mama to three precious kiddos--Avaree (12), Felicity (9), and Brandt (7). I am so thankful that I also get to be wife to Mr. Barton: he's my favorite. When I'm not with my family, I am either brainstorming a lesson, walking with a precious friend, or cleaning my house as I listen to music. I am entering my fifteenth year of teaching, and it's my dream job! Since I have taught elementary through high school, I am convinced of the critical importance of teaching students how to write well for any audience, purpose, or occasion, and I love every second of it. My favorite thing about teaching is watching my students learn and grow! :)
Donna MacKenzie:
Donna is very familiar with the University-Model. She has been involved at Grace Prep Academy in Arlington, Texas, for almost 20 years. Her four sons attended GPA with Donna by their side as their co-teacher. Donna moved into the classroom as the school’s third grade teacher when her youngest son began his third-grade year.
After teaching third grade for 14 years, Donna has retired to pursue her passion of creating teaching resources. She looks forward to providing high quality Christian products for teachers, parents, and students. Her online store will open soon. Head on over to DesignsByDonna.store.

INSIGHTS
Tell us a little about yourself. Things like:
How long you’ve been a teacher
Academic settings you’ve taught in, etc
If you have taught in a different school setting, can you please share how those experiences vary from teaching at a UM school?
According to your opinion and teaching experiences, describe how you witness parent engagement influencing kids’ education and schooling experiences.
Similarly, do you see any differences in student engagement, feelings towards school, and desire to learn in the various school settings?
Can you each provide a strategy you believe is essential:
To make a UM student successful
To make a UM parent’s journey successful
Is this strategy maneuverable for individuals that participate in other academic settings as well? If so, please describe.
