INSIGHTS

Parenthood has taught me the power of routines with sleep training infants.

  • The Babywise sleep training philosophy (wake up time, mealtime, play time, nap time, and bedtime).

  • Because I watched my kids reap the benefits of routines, I began to pay attention to different daily habits that set me up for success in my own life, especially as I started my doctorate with a 7 and 2 year old and a 5-month-old.

  • I believe that being too strict with anything leads to failures.

    • This is why I prefer lifestyle changes instead of going on diets!

  • I utilize these 6 strategies every single day in some way.

    • The key is that I’m always aware of the best scenario within these areas and try to use intentionality in applying them in my life.

  1. Sleep: I’m a firm believer that if you want to set yourself up for a successful, productive, and effective day at work and in parenting, you must go to bed at a good time the previous night.

  2. Sift Things: Sift your thoughts, words, actions, and your list of influences.

  3. Sustain your Body and Mind: what are you allowing to sustain your body physically, emotionally, spiritually, etc.?

  4. Squeeze in Time to be Active: being active has many definitions. Walks, family swims, yoga, bike rides, and even dance parties!

  5. Simplify: simplicity in every single area of life– schedule, closet, kids’ toys, home decor, car gadgets, throw pillows on the bed.

  6. Study: be a lifelong learner, a reader, and consumer of knowledge. Never be too proud to learn more!

In conclusion, when YOU are a better person, EVERYONE benefits.
